Zoo Atlanta provides assistance to journalists on assignment by arranging personal tours, animal encounters and other points of interest for coverage in articles, books and broadcasts.
Complimentary admission to the Zoo can be arranged and is handled on an individual basis. Requests will be evaluated and processed by the Public Relations Department and must be received a minimum of 10 business days before their intended visit. To receive media tickets, journalists must meet the following guidelines:
- Visiting journalists must be on assignment and should present an assignment letter on letterhead from the media outlet they are representing. Freelance writers should send samples of recent coverage.
- We request all credentialing information a minimum of two business days before the intended visit date. Once credentials are on file, there will be no further need to send credentials on subsequent visits. However, a press information request form will need to be completed with each visit and submitted beforehand.
- Filming is limited to three hours while photography sessions are limited to 30 minutes during the regular business day, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., unless otherwise noted in the request form.
- Photographs of Zoo property (to include Zoo animals) on Zoo grounds cannot be used for financial gain, publicity or redistribution.
- One-on-one animal contact is restricted to tractable animals.
- In order to maintain privacy and reduce any extraneous health risk to our animals, we do not allow journalists in behind-the-scenes areas.
- Please remember we are a weather-permitting attraction and will need to make alternative arrangements in inclement weather.
- Early arrivals by film crews will not guarantee additional media time.
- If a journalist is more than 30 minutes late, their appointment is automatically cancelled and may be rescheduled at another time.
- Zoo Atlanta requests an original copy of published article’s, cassette tape’s, VHS, CD or DVD’s or photographs are forwarded along with the publishing dates so we can maintain a copy for our files.
