Additional 3-hour supervised project at the Zoo is required to receive PLU credit.
Explore the wild side of Georgia. Investigate the state’s animals and ecosystems, learn about ways your students can have a positive impact on species in Georgia, and engage your students engaged in appreciating backyard wildlife.
Center for Behavioral Neuroscience - Why They Do What They Do at the Zoo — 3-5 PLUs

Cost: FREE! Workshop is funded by the Center for Behavioral Neuroscience at Georgia State University.
3 PLUs received on June 12 upon successful completion of the week's course requirements. An additional 1-2 PLUs are available upon completion of a supervised 10-20 hour project.
Discover animal courting behavior, parenting and interaction. Learn how the brain influences and controls animal behavior while linking the scientific method to behavioral and neuroscience research. Use the curriculum from this workshop to engage your students in similar research techniques to make their own discoveries about animal behavior.

Animals aren’t just for science class anymore. Encounter ways to use wildlife and animal concepts in language arts, math and social studies. Use curriculum from this workshop to integrate animals into all of your subjects, and make your classroom one that incorporates animals across the curriculum.

Take a closer look at Zoo Atlanta’s endangered species, learn more about the challenges their counterparts face in the wild, and find out what the Zoo is doing to preserve wildlife around the world. Discover ways to teach your students about endangered species and conservation concepts.
Make your teacher workdays or staff meetings both fun and educational. Schedule a date for the Zoo to hold a workshop at your school or bring your staff to Zoo Atlanta for a day of exciting professional development. Either way, Zoo Atlanta instructors will present hands-on activities aligned with state standards and animals you can touch. Select from various workshop topics including habitats, biodiversity, or animal behavior.
