New monkey will add color and charm to The Ford African Rain Forest
He has the look of a wizened little elder, with distinguished-looking muttonchops framing two bright, alert eyes circled in powder blue. (And no, no one’s picked up the wrong crayon and gotten rebellious with the giant panda coloring book.) The rightful owner of the blue-patched peepers – and a Technicolor personality to match – is Jasiri, a male Schmidt’s guenon.
Zoo Atlanta’s newest arrival, who hails most recently from Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo, recently completed his routine quarantine period and will soon be peering out at Zoo Members and guests from his new home in The Ford African Rain Forest. Schmidt’s guenons are among the most distinctively marked and colorful of the guenon species, and Zoo primate keepers are already in love with the curious, active demeanor beloved by Jasiri’s keepers in Florida. And psst: you’re next. This irrepressible monkey’s poised to score a bull’s eye in your heart, too.
Stay tuned for exciting announcements about Jasiri’s debut!
