Murphy brings experience, expertise and passion to the care of Atlanta’s wildest patients

Officials at Zoo Atlanta are pleased to announce the appointment of Hayley Weston Murphy, DVM, as Director of Veterinary Services. Murphy began work at the helm of the Zoo’s Veterinary Team on January 6.
Murphy joins Zoo Atlanta most recently from Zoo New England in Boston, Mass., where she served as Director of Veterinary Services. She has nearly 20-years of experience in the veterinary care of exotic wildlife that also includes positions at Capron Park Zoo in Attleboro, Mass., and Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, R.I.
Murphy, who is an adjunct faculty member of the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Westborough, Mass., also brings an extensive research background to her new role, particularly in the area of primate health and disease, and she has authored or co-authored more than 30 scientific publications. Her knowledge, expertise and passion for wildlife will be extremely valuable assets to Zoo Atlanta, where she will now lead the team responsible for the health care of more than 1,000 mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. |
